i do agree that when i cut my lawn it looks great but as it grows i seem to have longer bits as like u said it flattens it. i will be purchasing a new petrol one i want a cylinder but dont think...

You could dismantle the handles (that's how they come in the box), but I would consider that more as something for long term storage that a task to be carried out before and after every use....
