Don't know about being ripped off because I don't know enough about the lawn. If you stick with it then wait till its taken and in the autumn have a look at getting it scarified in two directions...

I would go with bean counter on this but with a slight differance, personally I'd scarify what you have, weed and feed it. Then I would seeds it all over and topdress it with a washed sand and top...
