Have you any thorny roses you can take a few long cuttings from. You could tuck these just inside the outer foliage so they can't be seen and the blighters will get a shock if it happens again.

I like the owl....it's really clever!

Having spent a lot of time there I can confirm the beauty of NZ, even on the many cloudy or wet days! What no photo ever gets across though is how clean the country smells! It always looks clean in photos like those, but the smell is the thing that catches me out every time.
