Looks like a good idea. It would be great for growing spuds in. Something confuses me though. Surely it will loose a lot of moisture and so need lots of watering. I thought Africa was hit by regular droughts. How does this work? Also, doesn't the hessian sack just rot away after a few weeks? I...

What super large petals! Ours are just about finished now and I've been harvesting the seeds to feed the birds over winter. Brilliant flowers for attracting bees - I always grow one up the climbing bean supports as well as a few others around the garden. Also great flowers for children to grow.

I have found the RHS how to pages to be very well laid out, as it is August semi-ripe cuttings of hydrangeas are what they advise.
