Best of British Michael! No personal experience of it, but, if you can generate some more plants from propagating it, that is all to the good. Its the pits when you have nurtured something only to find some pest has got the better of it!

Looks like Scab Nothing available for gardeners to treat it anymore, best you can do is remove and burn affected leaves and fruit, then keep it clean around the base when the leaves fall in the autumn.Are there any other pear trees nearby? as it can spread.
