Bacterial leaf spot? Though it does look more like scorch, hmm. Sounds a bit out there, but any chance it could be a mineral problem? Boron deficiency?

Sadly there is much less chance of it surviving if it was in a pot outside than if it was planted in a border. Even 'hardy' varieties can be killed if the root is thoroughly frozen

Thanks Cajary - thats interesting. I often see Red Spider Mite quoted as a problem of plants. I am not aware of having had it - but I am sure it is only a matter of time.

Help!! Something is eating my plant
Dont think I would be too bothered right now. Once we get a hard frost the top growth will die for the winter anyway.Now if this was happening in spring it would be a very different kettle of fish.

Irish yew - problem
I planted my Irish Yew (Scottish Borders) in July. It started changing colour at the end of September and is now almost completely red. Can't think that it's down to drought as where it's planted...
