I've lost a purple Sedum to slugs before, but never the green leaved variety.

Next year think about investing in butterfly netting or even better some enviromesh either will keep the blighters off and the latter will keep greenfly and aphids off too.

Looks like scorch to me. Not serious, just unsightly.:thumb:

I thought that it would be more difficult to get a license for a .22 gun than a shotgun. But are the .22 bullets cheaper if you can get a license? apart from shotgun cartridges being very expensive i gather they are not particularly accurate. More point in the right direction than a precision...

Yeah wasps eat little nasties too. I hate them and have been terrified of them for years, blacking out when i see one, but since doing more gardening I am slowly becoming less afraid. Although there were so many today at Falmer's Palmers that I was glad to get home

Daitheplant - thanks for the advice. This tree is a replacement for one that didn't thrive, although that was rootballed. I paid a bit extra on top for a pot grown specimen thinking that it would fare better. It can't be anything to do with the soil as it was planted in a good layer of tree...

Ive never come across them before, they are such a pain in the butt. I felt as though I hadnt been doing my job properly. Im normally quite careful to make sure I give my plants the best possible chance.:( 02

Well, I've just ordered a small piece of enviromesh to try out as I saw a cabbage white size up my netting and squeeze through! I hope it comes for the weekend as I want to plant out my caulis and cabbages. Liz
