Have tried a few times without success to capture meteors, this time my young brother-in-law has borrowed my DSLR for college :( Oh well, next is the Eta Aquarids, at the beginning of May with an expected ZHR between 20~40 meteors, hopefully have my camera back in time...G

There are lots of "modes" on that camera for various scenes / compositions, I think it tries to select the most appropriate one (goodness knows how! so I suspect that it doesn't get it right 100% of the time). Might be worth trying a shot of the Mauve flower with each the scene-settings to see...

Good idea Clare, yes you photographers on here must be in with a good chance going by the quality of photos I've seen.

I have neither of those two NR on my canon, so settle for short 30 sec exposure and combining either in dedicated astro software or simply in photoshop...and I also use a black frame too.I was looking into another tutorial the other day and it was talking about averaged blacks and flats...
