I like both...equally! The colour image is familiar, we can all identify with it as it's how we are used to seeing it, the black and white adds drama therefore holds our attention. But do you sometimes find that converting to B&W does not work or have the effect you where after? I came...

Have tried a few times without success to capture meteors, this time my young brother-in-law has borrowed my DSLR for college :( Oh well, next is the Eta Aquarids, at the beginning of May with an expected ZHR between 20~40 meteors, hopefully have my camera back in time...G

There are lots of "modes" on that camera for various scenes / compositions, I think it tries to select the most appropriate one (goodness knows how! so I suspect that it doesn't get it right 100% of the time). Might be worth trying a shot of the Mauve flower with each the scene-settings to see...

AesculusA very good first try, we all stated somewhere, editing a photo is another learning curve, like photography it tacks time and plenty of practise making mistakes and more mistake is how we learn and with help of others, aesculus there are sum very good editing tutorials on utube and...

Good idea Clare, yes you photographers on here must be in with a good chance going by the quality of photos I've seen.

I have neither of those two NR on my canon, so settle for short 30 sec exposure and combining either in dedicated astro software or simply in photoshop...and I also use a black frame too.I was looking into another tutorial the other day and it was talking about averaged blacks and flats...

Some great feedback from you folks along with some great links, I have noticed the lens has an image stabiliser facility. The added bonus with this camera is that I have a 70-210 lens from an old 135 which is compatible.

Thanks for comments all. Makes it worthwhile getting up early and braving Minus (-10C) for a few pictures.
