We had an old Butler sink which we positioned in a small area of the garden with soft planting around. Amazing how quick nature finds a way! We have frogs, newts, lizards, dragon flies and endless bugs and creepy crawlies. What else do you get by your sinks, buckets etc?

Hallo Mr C, like Harry, I only found your thread this evening. What a delightful and natural water feature. There is a lot of skill needed to keep a pond like this looking good. I think you have that skill, thank you for keeping us informed , Jenny namaste

I think it's a great idea and should work with a little thought, care by keeping an eye on it.I not sure I agree, Loofah, as I have a small waterfall in my wildlife pond and have had since 93'. It serves two purposes, [a] to oxygenate the water and soothes my Soul when I'm sitting by it...

The Pond

Thank you pamsdish. Im afraid you put them off the bamboo by saying it spreads prolifically. They don't want a plant that will easily take over if they are not at the house for a while but thank you for the offer :-)

Do it early in the year (before you have a problem). Put it in your diary for next year It takes a while to work, I reckon 28 days, and once you have a problem that gets bad, fast, and quicker than the barley straw can solve it. So better as prophylactic, than cure, I reckon.

This has always worked for me. I assume you have a filter?

Cheers for advice. Well I decided to empty it as the pump and filter just didn't seem to be clearing it and I am glad I did , there was that much muck and sludge on the bottom it was unbelievable and there would have been no way would it have cleared. I think it or most of it came from plants...

hi , was just wondering if anyone had one for sale as i am on a budget , a arnt looking for the massive things just something like a easyclear 3000 , could earn some extra cash for someone and get rid of it at the same time?

Hi Gloria, thanks for that info. Preformed ponds are pretty durable and tough but I would be careful of letting anyone walk around in it. Another question....... what do you intend to do with it?, plant it up with marginal, oxygenators, etc, put fish in???

If you have ever tried removing a large water lilly from a pond you will know it aint easy. Transportation would also be a problem.Might be easier to just take the photos at a pond that actually has lillies growing in it already?
