Thanks for the link Woo . Bradshaws are very competitive with their prices . My problem is I'm impatient and having started it I just want to get it finished and move on to next job. Hence my question regarding the tarp, which I do have. I suppose a tarp is more likely to rip.

I only have a small pond, luckily the pump lead is long enough to reach the power supply with out a joint,I use this type of breaker but uk modelThey do a plugin type, if mine ever packs up i will replace it with this type.

I can confirm that this works well, the colour of the grey product is natural. It stops you seeing the bottom of the pond with its unsightly leaves and it reduces algae growth dramatically.

I won't be planting bamboo.

You can always use baskets with no holes in, instead of the expensive aquatic baskets, and just put enough holes in, with a hot screwdriver, or a drill, to admit water. That way the plant will have enough access to the pond water, and take out the nutrients, without going out of control.

Its not urgent, it just could look better, ill just keep taking the Algae of the top and from round the Pump.

A pump and filter will only stop green water if there's a UV in the filter. Surface cover and vigorous plant growth is the best solution without that but I recommend getting a filter regardless - goldfish get big and are messy, and you'll struggle to keep the water healthy and stable with those...

I built a sloping edge into my pond to let wildlife climb out. You could easily built a wooden ramp to let the Frogs hop on and climb up.
