If the nest is quite low, a cat may have frightened them off. Doves like Wood Pigeons haven't got a lot of common sense when it comes to nest building.

We've had loads of ladybirds and, earlier in the year, they congregated in their dozens on the sage we had around the garden - especially the ones that caught the sun in the evening.

I think they are slightly larger and their colours are more intense. Usual biz - drabber females.... worn weary by motherhood and housekeeping I reckon !!

Took my 4 goldfinches 2 months to find my feeder. We also have 2 chaffinches and a couple of greenfinches. I love the colours and markings on the goldfinches though. Great pictures everyone.

My cats sleep under the bird bath while the birds sit on it merrily. I'm not saying that they wouldn't play "cat and mouse" with the frogs, but they do know the rules....no killing. Sally, the one eye cat, would run a mile if a frog jumped towards her!!

Mine still in the Hollyhocks and various other bushes, found a few in me garage and wood pile, so will not disturb them as they do a good job.
