I don't see much in the way of birds here,Here almost two year and seen one Robin, one Blackbird, a Dove. I can't put food out because it fetched mice to the shed last year. They climbed the feeder to get the nuts.I like the Robin, and the Bullfinch

Louise, We had the same problem before I got a new set of feeders and the fat balls without the dreaded netting. The reason we did is because a young starling got caught up in it and hung there until I came home and freed it. Pecked hell out o me hand though.

Went to Aldi on the way home - lots of different stuff for the birds and very reasonably priced.They also had Camellias for £5.99 each which were quite dry, so I took pity on a couple of them and brought them home. They don't look unhealthy so hopefully they'll be okay.

I love making them myself too when I can get the wood, no point in buying the wood though, too expensive round here. Certainly couldn't make one for £5... Best thing about making your own is you can try different designs and you get more satisfaction if a bird uses them

Depending on your budget and if you can site it within range of a tv?, Aldi have some bird boxes in with cameras fitted so you can see what's going on inside, for just over £40, not bad when you consider more or less the same box is in the pet shop over the road from our Aldi store for £90 !
