I saw 2 new birds to put on my list yesterday - I went for a walk around the harbour in my lunch hour and saw a bird I later identified as a Rock Pippet and when I got home there was a Brown Linnet feeding on the niger seed in the garden - a deceptive name as it had red plumage on it's head and...

very sad pics those and so small birds to.

Oh that was only one of about 20 patches all of a similar size and many smaller groups huddled round the bases of young hazel it was actually quite strange seeing so much of one plant that I'd never herd of:hehe:although I have seen the less common Ivy Broomrape (Orobanche hederae)in Pelham...

Thanks Pro ... we've never seen such in all our years here so it was quite a 'shock' but not something that frightened either of us. It must be climate change ...

The Slow worms in our polytunnel rest under the mypex ground covering in the daytime next to and sometimes on a red ant colony, they must imune to their bites, as their scales are very smooth maybe the ants can't get a grip. I'll try for some pics.

I have just posted a new thread about this as I didnt see yours. I never knew the frogs returned and would feel sick if the same thing happened to me. i now think Ill give the spawn away as I cant face it.

I have been given frog spawn but dont have a pool. I initially thought I would put a recycling bin in the ground with some aquatic plants but my partner said I should put them in my wishing well . If I do should I clean it out and can I use tapwater to refill it. How do I keep it from being...

Our frogs are still hiding (except for the brief sightings!!) I put all the spawn safely in an empty basket, and we are sure there has been 2 more clumps laid on top, as the basket is overflowing - so I'm going to have to put some in a 2nd basket!!!! Still haven't found any locals with...

Not done the official watch but here is what I saw this morning at about 10 am1 Coal tit Several starlings 1 Great tit 1 Blue tit 2 Blackbirds 2 Dunnocks 2 Robins,a courting pair with the female building a nest 1 Goldcrest
