Thanks Charlie, I'll keep this in mind in case the Juke doesn't work out.

We know the Renaults @fat controller, we've had a Megane and currently on our third Clio. Although they've all been sound mechanically, the interior rattles have let them down which is why we're a bit shy of buying another one.

We've only ever bought one brand new car in a mad moment and never again, it was such a waste of money. With the Juke we'll be looking for a two year old and if we buy here on the island there will be next to no mileage on it.

 

FC maybe only a few of us remember the original Nissan name of Datsun

 

I remember the Datsun's @HarryS. Here's some info taken from Wiki.......

Datsun is an automobile brand owned by Nissan. Datsun's original production run began in 1931. From 1958 to 1986, only vehicles exported by Nissan were identified as Datsun. By 1986 Nissan had phased out the Datsun name, but re-launched it in 2013 as the brand for low-cost vehicles manufactured for emerging markets.

In 1931, Dat Motorcar Co. chose to name its new small car "Datson", a name which indicated the new car's smaller size when compared to the DAT's larger vehicle already in production. When Nissan took control of DAT in 1934, the name "Datson" was changed to "Datsun", because "son" also means "loss" (損 Son) in Japanese and also to honor the sun depicted in the national flag.[1] Nissan phased out the Datsun brand in March 1986. The Datsun name is most famous[according to whom?] for the 510, Fairlady roadsters, and later the Fairlady (240Z) coupes.

Sadly I too am old enough to remember Datsun.... I also remember that Japanese cars were widely regarded as carp... No that's not a Japanese car but term albeit miss spelt on purpose to describe the cars. Now the Japanese build some of the most reliable cars we can get.

 

Did you ever get round to viewing a mazda cx3 ? sounds perfec for what your looking for and you can save 2k if you buy it from a broker called "carfile"

 

Apparently it was released Autumn 2015 and at £18,000+ it's outside my pocket range @WeeTam. I'm not keen on it's front end styling either, sorry!

It would probably cost me to import it to the island through a broker and that's if they have connections with the island, many companies haven't. We do have a Mazda agent here if I was interested though.

 

I remember hopping on and off those in London when I was working in the city many moons ago. We have a couple here on the island, although privately owned.

Have you driven one of these @fat controller ?

 

I would imagine it brought you out in a sweat turning or parking it.
