Sounds to me like you have it down to two @Sheal - in fairness to Renault, they have had something of a heave in the quality of their cars, particularly the interiors and paint, but then I think they had to really as they were losing a lot of ground to competitors.

One bit of advice, if you do plump for a Juke, make sure you give yourself plenty of lead time on the order; they are made in the same factory in Sunderland as the QQ and both are incredibly popular and successful globaly - this has led to some very long lead times for both models. :blue thumb:

That reminds me - did you hear about the freighter plane on its way to Sunderland with gearbox parts for the Juke and QQ? From what I heard, the cargo door blew open mid-flight....

locals said it was raining Datsun Cogs! :snorky:

Thanks Charlie, I'll keep this in mind in case the Juke doesn't work out. :)

We know the Renaults @fat controller, we've had a Megane and currently on our third Clio. Although they've all been sound mechanically, the interior rattles have let them down which is why we're a bit shy of buying another one.

We've only ever bought one brand new car in a mad moment and never again, it was such a waste of money. With the Juke we'll be looking for a two year old and if we buy here on the island there will be next to no mileage on it. :)

            I remember the Datsun's @HarryS. :) Here's some info taken from Wiki.......

Datsun is an automobile brand owned by Nissan. Datsun's original production run began in 1931. From 1958 to 1986, only vehicles exported by Nissan were identified as Datsun. By 1986 Nissan had phased out the Datsun name, but re-launched it in 2013 as the brand for low-cost vehicles manufactured for emerging markets.

In 1931, Dat Motorcar Co. chose to name its new small car "Datson", a name which indicated the new car's smaller size when compared to the DAT's larger vehicle already in production. When Nissan took control of DAT in 1934, the name "Datson" was changed to "Datsun", because "son" also means "loss" ( Son) in Japanese and also to honor the sun depicted in the national flag.[1] Nissan phased out the Datsun brand in March 1986. The Datsun name is most famous[according to whom?] for the 510, Fairlady roadsters, and later the Fairlady (240Z) coupes.

Sadly I too am old enough to remember Datsun.... I also remember that Japanese cars were widely regarded as carp... No that's not a Japanese car but term albeit miss spelt on purpose to describe the cars. Now the Japanese build some of the most reliable cars we can get.

Apparently it was released Autumn 2015 and at £18,000+ it's outside my pocket range @WeeTam. I'm not keen on it's front end styling either, sorry!

It would probably cost me to import it to the island through a broker and that's if they have connections with the island, many companies haven't. We do have a Mazda agent here if I was interested though. :)

:heehee: I remember hopping on and off those in London when I was working in the city many moons ago. We have a couple here on the island, although privately owned. :)

Have you driven one of these @fat controller ?

More than one - in fact, I was driving the only one we have left in our fleet (Extended Routemaster) just prior to Christmas; we have a garden centre for neighbours and every year they have Santa's grotto and on the first weekend of the grotto every year, Santa arrives in a big red routemaster (all decorated of course).

I must admit, I am not as fit as I used to be so I find the old girl a lot more challenging than I used to do - I can remember when it was a bit of fun to take her out, but it is increasingly like hard work.

Getting it into their car park wasn't too bad - getting it out once loads of customers cars had filed in was something of a mission. On the Sunday, there was one guy in an Audi who was utterly perplexed as to why I was asking him to park in a space in the next row up, and indeed he (politely) declined. The funny thing was that he seemed to walk much faster coming out of the garden centre than he did going in - maybe the sight of a routemaster executing a multi-point turn within inches of his nice motor had something to do with it......

Thankfully, I still have the knack of being able to stand up and manoeuvreat the same time - you get a bit more leverage on the wheel that way.

Come back power steering, all is forgiven.... :old:
