Paulownia tomentosa given to me by kristen a couple of years back, and following his instructions I've stooled it (cut it right down to the ground) to get the big leaves, I'm pretty pleased with it this year:

The t. rex has finally been caught up by the Musas and Ensetes either side, I think it's around 8ft tall:

Did that for a few years, Catalpa is pretty good as well.
I used to do the same with Ailanthus, but that can sucker if you damage the surface roots.

Pete - I think a big Alocasia is fantastic. I love the big leaves. Though mine has been suffering from RSM.
Strongy - I am really envious of your flowers. My Spanish Moss is looking
healthy, but I have never had any sign of a flower - I keep looking.
John - that is the most fantastic colour.

Pandorea jasminoides. These are the first flowers from a seed planted 4 years ago. The seed was from @Victoria - so many thanks. All good things come to those that wait. :snooze:

This is how my Cuphea Ignea ( Cigar plant ) usually looks in flower.....

                          WP_20160802_004.jpg

But, today, I've noticed that the " cigars" actually split open to reveal a head of cotton wool type stuff with seeds in it ! ! !

I've never seen this before and I'm wondering what could have pollinated it, I don't think we've got any Hummingbirds around here :)

Cupphea has always produced seed pods with small black seeds in for me.

I had always thought of Gasteria aff.bicolor as a house plant but now it just sits in the greenhouse over the winter and goes outdoors in the spring. In bloom using the same treatment for the third year in a row............

The Echeveria cante that @pete sent me a couple of years ago is now in bloom...............

The flowers are larger than any other Echeveria that I've grown and a lovely shade of red................

                                Hi Longk,

These seeds are a yellowish colour, you can see a couple in the photo. Does that mean they're no good ?
