I did nothing :dunno: but Mrs Shiney did a lot. She continued to cut back a lot of perennials (filled two big wheelie bins), watered the greenhouse and a few thousand plants in pots (same problem as Trunky - virtually no rain) and potted on some Hydrangea cuttings that have taken well and are now 2ft high. She also planted other cuttings and did some seed collecting. :phew: :dbgrtmb:

Tree surgeon coming to give his opinion of the trees alongside the house about what needs to be done and what can be done given the preservation order on them.

Doesn't a structural safety report trump a preservation order? Or aren't the trees quite that close?

Yes it does and the trees are as close as 10ft also 50+ft tall. They do not appear to be dying but occasionally shed branches. So I thought an expert opinion would be useful.

Turned my attention to the small front garden today. Got the last of the bulbs planted and transferred the last lot of wallflowers to that plot. So, now it is fingers crossed that in the Spring I'll be rewarded with some colour *and* some scent :dbgrtmb: :fingers crossed:

Was going to take a photo of the Amelanchier, which has looked gorgeous for the past week or so; but now it has decided to shed its leaves and doesn't look quite as picturesque  :heehee:

Think of it less of "nowt but look" and more "reflection time" ;)

I stopped off on my way back home at Wickes and bought eight 15" X 15" concrete slabs. I plan to make a new path around the Green House to the East Border making it the shortest and most direct way to get to the East Border path which runs down to the bottom of the garden past the Arbour.
I'll have to dig out and construct about 3 steps to lower the new path which will cross the higher hump of the central "walk around" border, and use some of the cobbles left by the Landscaper who built the base for the Observatory.:coffee::snorky:

Nipped into Homebase where there were quite a few half price gardenering bits n bobs. Tomatoe feed and rose etc, plant pots, growing cells, trays etc.
plenty half price power tools by the way, got myself a worxsaw, half price rude not to.

Got home used the ride on mower to pick the first batch of fallen leaves. This was dumped into my leafmoldcage.
Some grass mixed is OK isnt it?

Reset the mink trap. Watered thd palms and treeferns and cleared more moss .............from the roof guttering. A good day.....

Yep, so long as it's not too much and there's air getting into the mixture.:coffee::snorky:

I can't be bothered to separate grass cuttings, leaves etc. They all get dumped on my heaps and rot down eventually. As I do a two year cycle it doesn't matter.

                              But not this!!!

After a nice dry period , I was going to mow the front lawn and give it a light scarify. If you look on "Will it rain today" , website , there is one rain cloud over the whole UK . Yes right over Wigan :gaah:
