What jobs are we doing in the garden today, autumn 2016

i have some weeds to take care off, and also need to postcrete a couple of posts in the ground before it gets to cold

 

Tree surgeon coming to give his opinion of the trees alongside the house about what needs to be done and what can be done given the preservation order on them.

 

That bl**dy mans getting everywhere, I reckon he should have a safety report done on him

 

Yes it does and the trees are as close as 10ft also 50+ft tall. They do not appear to be dying but occasionally shed branches. So I thought an expert opinion would be useful.

 

Turned my attention to the small front garden today. Got the last of the bulbs planted and transferred the last lot of wallflowers to that plot. So, now it is fingers crossed that in the Spring I'll be rewarded with some colour *and* some scent

Was going to take a photo of the Amelanchier, which has looked gorgeous for the past week or so; but now it has decided to shed its leaves and doesn't look quite as picturesque

 

Think of it less of "nowt but look" and more "reflection time"

 

Nipped into Homebase where there were quite a few half price gardenering bits n bobs. Tomatoe feed and rose etc, plant pots, growing cells, trays etc.
plenty half price power tools by the way, got myself a worxsaw, half price rude not to.

Got home used the ride on mower to pick the first batch of fallen leaves. This was dumped into my leafmoldcage.
Some grass mixed is OK isnt it?

Reset the mink trap. Watered thd palms and treeferns and cleared more moss .............from the roof guttering. A good day.....

 

After a nice dry period , I was going to mow the front lawn and give it a light scarify. If you look on "Will it rain today" , website , there is one rain cloud over the whole UK . Yes right over Wigan
