Hmm. Obama didn't fail as such, he was prevented from accomplishing his goals by a bloody minded political set up. I've seen nothing that shows Trump is 'for the people ' so not convinced at all that the American public will get their hearts desire.

 

To be honest, Scrungee, Politicians might take the credit for a growing economy but they aren't the reason for it. George was not a good Chancellor as he made several huge mistakes and had to publicly do a quick U turn. Cameron bailed out because he disagreed with the Referendum result and wasn't a good enough Prime Minister to lead the Country out of the mess he has caused, while a Lady who had disagreed with the result took over and is doing a better job than he could have done.
Free trade area? Not really, we have paid a yearly contribution to the EU, for the privilege of being in the EU, of £19 Billion, while also playing King Canute trying to resist the move to Federalisation where we'd have lost our national identity and not even been an accepted major player. The vote was 48% stay in and 52% get out.....which ever way you look at.

 

You're right, clueless, , my Freudian slip translating the 4% difference between the votes and into the percentages.

 

We have two roads with the same name here. The road we're on is a couple of miles long and the one of the same name is only a little bit shorter. They're only a few hundred yards from each other . Not usually a problem as neither of them have a name plate .

The only time it causes problems is if someone puts the name of the road into their satnav. The satnav always manages to pick the wrong one.

 

Decided to gut out the outhouse today, as it had become something of a dumping ground, and an old bookcase that we were using as shelves were looking really sorry for themselves and starting to fall apart. Once I got the bookcase out (totally knackered, so its fire wood now), I found that mice had been making themselves at home underneath it, so I then went on to thoroughly scrub absolutely everything, vacuum and shampoo the carpet (scrubbing it with a scrubbing brush before going over it with the machine). Then, I put in two sets of five plastic (Keter) shelves and decided that it was the ideal time to sort out some of our storage, mostly for some of our bulk buy stuff from Costco; the shelves proved to be a fantastic buy - we now have all of our tins, bottles, cleaning products, demi-johns of wine, loo roll and kitchen roll all stored on them, leaving more space in the kitchen cupboards.

Sadly, during the clean up, our Dyson blew its lid and required some emergency surgery to get the job done. I could fix it, but it is ten years old now and the parts needed are in the region of £100+, so I popped on over to AO.com and ordered a nice new one - being delivered tomorrow. Pretty impressive given that is was 6pm when I placed the order.

Now, I am going to chill out with a nice whisky or four....
