P1080483.JPG P1080465.JPG P1080470.JPG P1080472.JPG @Scrungee the chap did say about the number plate that he couldn't find it on the DVLA database as it is that old.At the end of the day if this chap works on the car and after a few years he sells for a few grand then good luck to him, better than it go to a scrap yard to be squashed to a cube:snorky:

These are the three fords that need getting rid of.I can find the MOT history for two of them but not for the third one, which we can't understand  as my FIL would have always had the cars MOT'ed.
And this is part of the nightmare he left behind because he wouldn't maintain the building as it meant spending money so all this wood has got to be cleared and got rid of before we can get to the mini that is underneath it all:sad:
PS,Please don't hoard stuff folks as all it does it causes a nightmare situation for those left behind to pick up the pieces:mute:

My in-laws hoarded rotten, woodworm infested furniture, broken electrical items, etc., whilst throwing good stuff away. We have hoarded valuable collectables from when they were plentiful and cheap.

Ah, I thought they were vintage cars - they are relatively modern. Of the two Escorts, the M plater will be the best, the J plate (Mk5 if memory serves) didn't really endear themselves to anyone at the time, particularly as a lot of them had the carried over pushrod engines that were underpowered, noisy and unrefined. Having said that, it is now becoming a rare thing at 25 years old, so someone might be interested in it. I am not sure how likely it would be to see the better CVH engine in one of those.

The M plate (Mk5 Facelift I think) looks as though it might be a special (Mistral maybe?), just going by the colour coded bumpers etc - these had either the CVH engine or the newer Zetec engines which continued on into the Focus etc, and were a much better prospect than the older units - plus, they were all fuel injected by then too.

The Fiesta could have anything from a pushrod engine through to CVH or the Zetec too - not bad wee motors to be fair; they seemed to suffer problems with the immobiliser for some reason, not sure what the problem was though.

The Mini is probably the most valuable of the lot there - they still have a cult following, so you should move it on without any trouble. It is one of the better colours too.

I had a Mini Countryman in the 70's, while in the rif raf, and used it to carry my fishing gear in, any WAAF girlfriends, fishing and then to the Pub. I bought it second hand in excellent condition for a couple of hundred pounds but now I've just seen one advertised for sale at £18,995!!!!!!!:hate-shocked::dunno: I think the engine was only 850cc but it put up with being overloaded and some abuse. The only thing that I hated was the brakes as they were never great, plus the rubber caps on the Brake Slave Cylinders could perish and leak leading to some interesting driving when going around Rutland's country lanes. Oh, and I did have the Steering fail when the worm screw came undone.:dunno::heehee:

I was very nearly killed by one when I was 9 or 10 years old.

I was on the pavement when it came out of a junction opposite, was hit by a transit van, and launched across the road coming to a rest quite literally inches in front of where I stood. The outcome was not pleasant, and not something anyone should have to see, especially not a kid.

Blimey what a mess, I do feel sorry for you and Mr Kandy having to sort that lot out.

My view is that those Fords have no value just scrap maybe whereas the Mini would sell for a few hundred quid depending on whether it has been crushed by the wood at the front. If it's a runner it may sell for a grand. I've had a fair few classic Minis and am on a couple of related forums. There are not that many old Minis on the road now but plenty in your FIL's state in people's garages, they get hung onto for sentimental reasons mainly. They are simple to work on and fix up with a strong demand either as a runner or for parts.

@JWK if you look to the right of the sky blue car you will see there are some mini doors to the right of it,which come from the red one under the wood and the white mini to the left of the dark Ford.My FIL managed to get the red mini into that building with the intention of sorting it so that his grandson could learn to drive in it.The Grandson was seventeen at the time and is now 32 so it never got sorted.A lot of the collapsing of the roof has happened over that time due to rot, heavy snow fall very strong winds etc and is getting worse. oh and to the left of the Fiesta is a Forson Major tractor my FIL gave to his grandson.God only knows where that is going to get put, still that isn't my worry:snorky:

As the garage is so cold you can't stand in the place for too long as there is no heating or electricity:sad:

I will mention to Mr Kandy about the scrap value of those cars and see what he and his sister can decide on:noidea:

@Scrungee, I collected plates years ago from Franklin Mint I think it was thinking they would be valuable in years to come but evidently many people thought the same and they are going for peanuts on selling sites so that wasn't a good idea:thud:
