When i have planted hegdes in fields we had two rows and have them stagered, planting was, just make a holes with iron bar and wiggle it around to make hole bigger so that you can get the roots in, then push the hawthorn in then heel them in, one mile of plant done in one day :thud:

Not a lot really today (there's a bit of a breeze out there today and I didn't want to mess my hair up :heehee: )

But, I did go through my seed box and now I know tomorrow ... I'll be shopping

Like @"M" I have been keeping my head down, and the front door firmly closed.

However, I did need to venture out to resume stuff from the bird table, which blew over in the winds. Various feeders now up in the nearby trees - I'll sort the table when things calm down a little...

Weedkilled round the veg plot, rotovated all the empty bits, cultivated between the rows of broad beans and onions, pruned blackcurrants and spread straw mulch round all the soft fruit. Planted garlic (usually do it in October, but ran out of time last year), spread two trailer-loads of FYM on new border ready for rotovating tomorrow. Then crawled into the village for an apero and pizza, because if OH really thought that I was going to cook after all that, well, tant pis! What did he do today? B***** all :gaah:

The only thing I did in the garden today due to the stormy weather was to put on my cold weather fishing jacket and boots to have an amble around the garden to check for any damage. To my surprise there were no fence panels on the West side or on the East side that were out of place or damaged. My garden slopes down about 3 feet from top to bottom and my Wild Life pond is at the bottom so it was sheltered from any winds and it was fine. I built my Arbour purposely to allow winds to pass through it
                [IMG]
But I'm always aware of the natural power of the winds so I was relieved to find the Arbour was just fine.
My Green House is fairly exposed to the West Wind but again I was happy to find that it was withstanding the 35mph gusts of wind without any problem. The Observatory is round and smooth in shape so air flows around it nicely so the only thing I had done the day before was to turn the roof so that the shutter was facing West and that the dome was locked down. After a short drive around the local district and seeing the wind damage all around I think I was very lucky to find no damage on the property.:phew::love30::snorky:

I got back from Manchester just as the daylight was fading and after making a mug of Tea, bowed to the impulse to pot up the Allium Nectarcordium Sicilium and put them in the Green House to grow on. I'd ordered 10 of the bulbs but found they'd kindly given me 13:snork:, so I've potted them up and will probably put them into the ground at the end of March.:coffee::snorky:

That's a very kind offer that we shall be glad to accept. :love30: I'm sure we can reciprocate in kind :).

I'm surprised that you missed them on the sales table. We got so many request for more that I spent a lot of time digging more out of the garden. Ziggy gave me a hand with them at one time. :dbgrtmb:

I also may have a handful of bulbs that I haven't potted up yet that I can give you. Depends on whether I get around to it as I've been doing a lot of the jobs that she normally does (at least twice as fast as I can do them!) as the lurgy has kept her from the garden for a month already. She's now having a week of complete rest and seems to be recovering - slowly. :blue thumb:
