Only half my magnolia tree flowers....it is quite an established tree as it was here when I moved in. It has like fur growing on all the branches and buds.....friends have said its got a fungus disease are they correct? And how do I treat it?

Hi @Rachel hughes and a warm welcome to Gardeners Corner :sign0016:

I have taken the liberty of merging your posts here, to hopefully get you the best answers as quickly as possible.

Do you have any pictures of the suspected fungus?

Just had a look at my magnolia and all the buds both flower and leaf buds have a furry texture to them.
Could the magnolia be grafted and the non flowering half be growing from the rootstock?

If you could get a close up image of the suspected fungus, it would help everyone to try and work out what is wrong?

Scale is an infestation. I don't know how to get rid. I lost my beautiful Susan magnolia. The arborist I broughtin cinfirmed that it was a goner.
