I love the osteos Caroline L. They simply thrive down here, everywhere. Go for the “hardy” varieties I have already mentioned, I.e. the spreaders :) Some of my clumps are 2 or 3 metres across. If your conditions are less than mild in winter simply take cuttings in summer and you will always have replacement plants:)

Sorry @CarolineL , I'm embarrassingly hopeless at names :dunno:....I just go by what I like the look of!!!:heehee:. The other trouble is I just tend to collect cuttings too, never initially being told names.

The rain here makes mud which the dogs and cats bring into the house. One day all that mud will hopefully be converted into something useful. For the time being though I just feel like I'm going around in circles.

              :gaah:

On a positive note, my alliums are on the verge of blooming. If the peonies come out as well, that should be a nice display.

Looking great everyone, really, really lovely. What a fabulous time of year for our gardens.

Wild geraniums have sprung up all over the garden, but I like them and so do the bees, so its all good!

                Beautiful aquilegia.

We seem to have a lot of purple in the garden, so this lovely bright geum contrasts nicely I think. I'd like to add another one of these this year, that's definitely on my wish list the next time I go to the garden centre.

Peony, a new addition, as its the flower to mark 12 years of marriage apparently.

You should see the photos that I delete :heehee:
I just use manual settings - I know whaat I can see but on auto the camera interprets what it thinks that it is seeing.

I had four Ornithogalum dubium bulbs in this pot last year - two have disappeared, one is still dormant and the fourth is in bloom............

The flowers look very similar to Gorse in the following two pictures....
                      IMG_5088.JPG

....but Gorse has the lethal thorns and is a slightly darker yellow than Broom.

Weigelia looks different on the camera depending on time of day and whether the sun is on it but when looking at it in person the human eye adjusts it automatically and you don't notice.

We've just moved this to another part of the bed as everything in front of it is growing much quicker and hiding it. Couldn't possibly be bad planning on our part!

We have lots of Allium siculum around the garden. They look lovely but are invasive. They're probably our best seller as they're open on Open Day. They're fine if you can remember to cut the seed heads off when they set. The trouble is that the seed heads look good as well.

                            They're almost ready to open

@Sienna's Blossom They are certainly visually effective but they produce thousands of seeds. It's not a problem if you remove the seed heads after the flowers have finished. Otherwise they seed everywhere.

The seed heads are also very good in flower arrangements.
