WHATS LOOKING GOOD IN MAY 2019

I love the osteos Caroline L. They simply thrive down here, everywhere. Go for the “hardy” varieties I have already mentioned, I.e. the spreaders Some of my clumps are 2 or 3 metres across. If your conditions are less than mild in winter simply take cuttings in summer and you will always have replacement plants

 

Sorry @CarolineL , I'm embarrassingly hopeless at names ....I just go by what I like the look of!!!. The other trouble is I just tend to collect cuttings too, never initially being told names.

 

Just had another look and I think it's an Allium

 

The rain has made everything nice and green and healthy Woo.

 

The rain here makes mud which the dogs and cats bring into the house. One day all that mud will hopefully be converted into something useful. For the time being though I just feel like I'm going around in circles.

On a positive note, my alliums are on the verge of blooming. If the peonies come out as well, that should be a nice display.

Wild geraniums have sprung up all over the garden, but I like them and so do the bees, so its all good!



Beautiful aquilegia.

We seem to have a lot of purple in the garden, so this lovely bright geum contrasts nicely I think. I'd like to add another one of these this year, that's definitely on my wish list the next time I go to the garden centre.


Peony, a new addition, as its the flower to mark 12 years of marriage apparently.

I just use manual settings - I know whaat I can see but on auto the camera interprets what it thinks that it is seeing.

I had four Ornithogalum dubium bulbs in this pot last year - two have disappeared, one is still dormant and the fourth is in bloom............

For @CanadianLori....this is wild Broom (Cytisus)



The flowers look very similar to Gorse in the following two pictures....


....but Gorse has the lethal thorns and is a slightly darker yellow than Broom.

 

Wow, those allium Siculum are stunning @shiney I've never seen those before. I love this forum for so many new ideas.
