Two big gaffs by the tories, yeah Cameron read the public wrong and laid back thinking the remain vote would win, then along come May, who lets face it, wanted the job, and then laid back after calling a general election.

No one in Parliament is in touch with the little bloke in the street, and that will become their downfall.

As a ‘remainer’ or as some like to say ‘remoaner’ (bah), I won’t be agreeing any time soon, but yes, good to see you back

Might I point out that Theresa May voted to remain in the EU?

Point out at who? AFAIC, what May voted for is irrelevant.

If our MP’s had any backbone, sincerity or courage we would have concluded Brexit a long time ago.
We deserved better than that lot in Parliament ....Commons and Lords:)

What I find puzzling, what ever TM voted, is that she actually picked up the "Poisoned Chalice" that nobody else wanted:dunno:. She must have known what an impossible task it was going to be:wallbanging::dunno:.

I agree with pete. Cameron gave into pressure to honour the pledge to hold a Referendum on leaving or staying in the EU thinking the result would be a "stay in" result which he supported...... a major misread of the "Man in the Street" by a man out of touch with the Nation. May did the same, misreading the Nation's mood of anger, disillusionment with the failure of all MP's. thinking her "Leadership" with a Cabinet in disarray, and a Parliament of MPs of all Political Parties who were/are putting their own interests first while blatantly ignoring their duty to the Nation and the result of the Referendum would, somehow, gain her greater support...while not recognising nobody but the EU wanted that deal.

With respect Freddy, I am not sure that it is - I am sure that when you vote, you vote for the party/policy that best aligns with your beliefs. Theresa voting to remain and then going on to lead a government to leave is a bit like putting me in charge of negotiations on behalf of vegan cyclists. Can I negotiate? Yes. But could I effectively negotiate on their behalf? Absolutely not, because I don't believe in the same things that they do, therefore I do not have the passion or fire in my belly to go and make it happen.

                      Hiya FC

My apologies, I should have expanded. In my view, it wouldn’t have made any difference who was at the helm, given the state of the parties. Labour (normally my ‘go to’ party) will vote against anything put forward and the Tories are divided. Will Boris do any better? He seems to be playing the default game, but since parliament has voted against a no-deal, I’m not quite sure how that’ll work. Throw into the mix a possible vote of ‘no confidence’, it’s a mess.

                        A note on the finances:-

"The Budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled,
public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be
                        tempered and controlled
, and the assistance to foreign lands should be
curtailed, lest Rome will become bankrupt. People must again learn to work
instead of living on public assistance." - Cicero, 55 BC

So, evidently we've learned bugger all over the past 2,074 years.

Underlined by the fact that the then Labour Chancellor, Liam Byrne, left a note on the desk for the incoming Tory Chancellor which said "I'm afraid there is no money. , and leaving the UK with a huge debt and a recession. We still have a major portion of MP's that are in a mental state of blind extreme political belief, incompetence, and agendas that puts their own stubborn, nationalistic, short sighted beliefs before the interest of the UK and the Referendum....which is why Parliament and it's MP's couldn't even make a decision that even a Village Idiot could make. It will take a long, long time for this present Parliment to live down the state of disunity and sheer incompetence that history will place upon them............but, what irks me, is that I don't think they care.

I think your last remark is the most poignant ARMANDII....I don’t think they do :noidea:

Incidentally, why are so many still protesting now about climate change....governments already have started making changes. Our local council too......large tree plantings, wildflower meadows are springing up everywhere, changes to our recycling are happening, enforced car sharing schemes, electric chargers going in everywhere, plastic packaging being done away with and a whole lot more. Changes are happening and at a faster pace than ever before
How are ordinary people supposed to get the money to buy electric cars right now yet some protestors want oil and petrol banned now! :noidea: Of course we have to change our ways of doing things but not in 5 minutes
When I read about these protestors....and we had 100 of them on our local beach over the weekend....(I know a couple of them).....I wonder about their sincerity. Celebrities incl royalty attended a climate change “jolly” in their gas guzzling planes, helicopters and limos in their attention seeking ways recently too.
As always it will be the ordinary guy in the street who has to pay
