I understand where you are coming from and I sincerely hope you haven't got it.

On a wider perspective testing for Covid-19 has already proven to be a major weapon, some Asian countries have used it very effectively to control the virus spread.

“Test, test, test,” World Health Organisation director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus implored countries fighting the novel coronavirus at a press conference on March 16. “You cannot fight this fire blindfolded, and social distancing measures and handwashing will not alone extinguish the epidemic.”

    WHO head: 'Test, test, test'

The prime example is South Korea, "The backbone of Korea’s success has been mass, indiscriminate testing, followed by rigorous contact tracing and the quarantine of anyone the carrier has come into contact with"

It's a national scandal the UK is lagging so far behind.

Our UK/Canadian Royal family agree to differ on that point, quote from the BBC:

"I think it's shocking that NHS Grampian have been able to go out to Balmoral and test not only Prince Charles but Camilla, who is asymptomatic, when we have frontline medical, nursing and other key worker staff at home who are unable to access testing."

On a more positive note the news today:
"Frontline NHS staff in England will begin being tested this weekend to see if they have coronavirus. Workers with symptoms or those who live with people who have symptoms will be checked - starting with critical care doctors and nurses."

Some good news, my daughter went shopping yesterday, "Sainsbury's were much better organised. There was a queue to get in all keeping 2 metres apart so the queue looked long but moved quickly. A member of staff on the door letting people in as shoppers left one by one. Inside people were good and keeping distance and best of all the shelves were almost as full as normal."

I wonder if all the hoarders have filled up their houses and can't get any more in, now the supply chain has caught up things may return to some degree of normality.

I hope this is the same across the UK, I'd be interested to hear how the grocery stores are behaving elsewhere.

That's good news @JWK but I won't be able to add to your survey at the moment as we are getting by on supplies and I don't want to go into town to see :). I seriously doubt whether the residents of that town will be quite as good, but I hope I'm wrong.

I'd be very interested in any other feedback on this point. :blue thumb:

Good morning out supermarkets still have very large queues ,its at least a 2/3 wait and the online shopping is non existent until at least May ,I can only see as far as the end of April, ,this was on the online shopping site this morning, and there is no way Mr 7 Mrs Woo can stand for 2/3 hours outside a supermarket:sad:

We are releasing slots as and when they become available, but they are filling up quickly. We ask those who are able to safely come to stores to do so, instead of shopping online, to help us prioritise slots for more vulnerable customers.

We apologise for the wait. We are working hard to facilitate the demand and you may have to wait longer than usual to access the website.

Please note, unfortunately we currently have no available delivery slots and our contact center do not have any other access to delivery slots.

We haven't been shopping for almost a fortnight now as like @shiney we are coping well on our supplies too. Fresh fruit and veg are keeping well in our dark, cool garage so all is good here.:dbgrtmb:

We managed to get my Dad a home delivery slot from Sainsburys for yesterday...as my brother normally does his shopping at Asda and on receiving news from my niece that the first free Asda slot was the 5th April ,we were quickly able to add his shopping to my Dad's order ...phew!!

My sister's neighbour said he had no problem with our local shops and all seemed fairly well stocked.

Perhaps now that the children are home this hinders people from going on shopping trips now, or maybe everyone has finally come to their senses!!

Things are pretty calm here in Algarve but perhaps not so up North. T'other Half went to Lidl on Wednesday and got all we need. People were keeping distance. Our village Pharmacy (7kms away) has put a desk/counter at doorway so no one allowed in store. Algarve has less than 100 confirmed cases and one death (420,000 residents). Only 5 cases in our county. I think folk are being sensible here.

I read there may soon be a world shortage of orange juice ... but no problems here in the midst of thousands of orange trees. :heehee:

Being adrift in the ocean I always have good stocks in. A young US visitor looked at where I lived even before the island, ie a remote mountain, and asked, " What do you do if you run out of coffee?" My simple reply was " Do without as it would be my own fault." But yes I have slowly added to stocks here. Well before the need arose as it was clear what would happen when the SHTF. As it did. But the modern generation tend to live hand to mouth whereas we old wans were raised with sensibly stocked pantries. This place, my " demountable dwelling" has little storage space so currently there is a cat food mountain posing as a shelf in the corridor.

Since I stopped going , shopping has been a delivery from Supervalu every two weeks and that comes to the gate here. The local manager is a star. He really is. Too far from any other supermarket and that was hard to get used to; yearn for Tesco 10 cent noodles! Love them! lol...In withdrawal! Last few weeks have been getting extra but now I can slow down. Settling in for the long haul as it will be now. Down to simple basics. Second childhood setting in. lol....safe and snug in my cocoon

Tesco here is probably the worst but getting slightly better we haven't been able to get toilet roll from them for 6 weeks, but being resourceful I've compensated with loads of new underwear:lunapic 130165696578242 5:local small shops have adapted quicker and better, no bumping of prices and our local heron don't put the likes of toilet rolls on the shelf they keep them in the back and you ask for them, to be quite honest we're just adapting to what we can get and as long as we have something to eat we're fine.

It is about the same here @JWK. I visited my local grocery and they have only one entrance open from the underground parking and there was a fellow sanitizing and supplying carts to people as they came in. Then everyone kept their distance. The self check out had red tape lines clearly marked so that people could use the lines to distance properly.

The people hoarding toilet paper last week and the week before were also stacking cases of bottled water in their carts. What the heck is that? Our municipal water is very clean and there has never been any question about it's safety. My brain looked at those cases and saw all the plastic, not the water and I got quite teed off!

'There they are, blast 'em!' :) Like the idea - definitely make them think twice

There's an app that allows you to submit your symptoms, or lack thereof, for covid-19. There simply isn't capacity to test everyone so it's a supplementary way of tracking cases.

To anyone knocking bojo - I'd challenge them to identify any leader that is faultless and that everyone agrees with the decisions made. He's made some incredibly tough choices and those based on the scientific data and advice available at that time. I don't really go for the comparison of country 1 vs country 2 etc as each country has completely different demographics and socioeconomic make up. There's a great line from Derek Jacobi in The Day After Tomorrow - 'Save as many as you can', and that's what any leader will be doing.

The problem is that anti bacterial wipes aren't really that effective as Covid 19 is not a bacteria but a Virus, so good 'ole soapy water is the best thing!!:cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:
