I understand where you are coming from and I sincerely hope you haven't got it.

On a wider perspective testing for Covid-19 has already proven to be a major weapon, some Asian countries have used it very effectively to control the virus spread.

“Test, test, test,” World Health Organisation director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus implored countries fighting the novel coronavirus at a press conference on March 16. “You cannot fight this fire blindfolded, and social distancing measures and handwashing will not alone extinguish the epidemic.”

The prime example is South Korea, "The backbone of Korea’s success has been mass, indiscriminate testing, followed by rigorous contact tracing and the quarantine of anyone the carrier has come into contact with"

It's a national scandal the UK is lagging so far behind.

 

Our UK/Canadian Royal family agree to differ on that point, quote from the BBC:

"I think it's shocking that NHS Grampian have been able to go out to Balmoral and test not only Prince Charles but Camilla, who is asymptomatic, when we have frontline medical, nursing and other key worker staff at home who are unable to access testing."

On a more positive note the news today:
"Frontline NHS staff in England will begin being tested this weekend to see if they have coronavirus. Workers with symptoms or those who live with people who have symptoms will be checked - starting with critical care doctors and nurses."

 

Some good news, my daughter went shopping yesterday, "Sainsbury's were much better organised. There was a queue to get in all keeping 2 metres apart so the queue looked long but moved quickly. A member of staff on the door letting people in as shoppers left one by one. Inside people were good and keeping distance and best of all the shelves were almost as full as normal."

I wonder if all the hoarders have filled up their houses and can't get any more in, now the supply chain has caught up things may return to some degree of normality.

I hope this is the same across the UK, I'd be interested to hear how the grocery stores are behaving elsewhere.

 

That's good news @JWK but I won't be able to add to your survey at the moment as we are getting by on supplies and I don't want to go into town to see . I seriously doubt whether the residents of that town will be quite as good, but I hope I'm wrong.

I'd be very interested in any other feedback on this point.

 

Good morning out supermarkets still have very large queues ,its at least a 2/3 wait and the online shopping is non existent until at least May ,I can only see as far as the end of April, ,this was on the online shopping site this morning,and there is no way Mr 7 Mrs Woo can stand for 2/3 hours outside a supermarket

There's an app that allows you to submit your symptoms, or lack thereof, for covid-19. There simply isn't capacity to test everyone so it's a supplementary way of tracking cases.

To anyone knocking bojo - I'd challenge them to identify any leader that is faultless and that everyone agrees with the decisions made. He's made some incredibly tough choices and those based on the scientific data and advice available at that time. I don't really go for the comparison of country 1 vs country 2 etc as each country has completely different demographics and socioeconomic make up. There's a great line from Derek Jacobi in The Day After Tomorrow - 'Save as many as you can', and that's what any leader will be doing.

 

The problem is that anti bacterial wipes aren't really that effective as Covid 19 is not a bacteria but a Virus, so good 'ole soapy water is the best thing!!
