Oh absolutely, it is the idiots that have brought this about - XR/BLM/Freedom marches etc, but the law of unintended consequences is in there and I have a deep distrust of anything that our governments do now. Three weeks to flatten the curve...

Laws can be challenged in the courts and reversed. These things aren't imposed - they have to go through the Lords/Parliament - Parliament has the final say so and we have the power to change Parliament through election - as we did when they started messing about with Brexit.

IMHO the UK is the best place in the world to live.

This is going slightly off topic.

Indeed, but it is quite a wide topic purely by the nature of the governments reaction and actions and all of this is being brought about under the guise of covid. Whilst things can be challenged in courts, having the funding to do so is entirely a different thing...

Realistically I can only remember one protest that actually changed things and that was the poll tax one.
Most marches and protests achieve absolutely nothing and I think its probably the same people on most of them.

True, but it also seems that voting has little effect. Let's not beat about the bush here, our parliament spent almost four years trying to subvert the choice that was made in 2016, and the Scottish government have spent a bit longer trying to subvert the decision made in 2014

I have been trying hard to find a single scintilla of common sense in Boris´s question, :--
            "If not now, when?"
I have failed miserably, it doesn´t form any kind of argument, explanation, or logic.
This is the rhetoric of Imelda Marcos and Idi Amin, revealing contempt for the questioner and the question.
Had they not had the immeasurable irony to style themselves "Public Servants" I might not have realised it was actually a pantomime.

It's difficult tell what Boris is saying, he waffles and blusters with an awful lot of nonsense asides. I think he means now is the time to relax all restrictions. We have to do that sooner or later. The more we delay the more businesses go bust and people lose their jobs, and people miss their hospital treatment etc etc.

Go for it now will cost lives, it's a tradeoff.

Just read this is only from 7pm on Fridays through the weekend and on holidays and only in High Risk counties ... Algarve now has 9 out of 16 High Risk counties since the Tourist Season began, our county being one. Our numbers have quadrupled but our positive figures are being calculated against our normal population number ... not fair! It is a big issue with our Mayors lobbying the Government.

Today is a National Holiday, Portugal Day.

I see where you are coming from, and your clarity exceeds his by a country mile.
What I´m wondering is, if we abandoned High Speed Rail, spent no more on weapons, raided the Banks for some of their illegal profits, established a Land Tax, and stopped squaffing millions to Friends of Boris, would the government be in a better position to support the country where it really needs it ?

As you see, John, I have but one foot on this planet, and its ways are a matter of great curiosity.

Sounds a bit serious Victoria, of course here in the Alpujarra we thought about that too.
Then we thought "Nah, let´s close the road and race rally cars."
                    So we did that instead.

                      Ahh the perfect society.

Can you mention one country that operates under such a system.;)

You forgot to mention completely stopping foreign aid.

                        Somehow missed this bit ...

                        The Certificate is required in tourist establishments and local accommodation, every day and throughout the national territory;

Not good, and yesterday we had 3,162 nationally and 320 in Algarve. I shall stay seconded and safe in my orchards.

I can but dream pete, and if such a Utopia existed, I would keep it a secret lest it be immediately bombed in the name of Democracy.
                          And you´re right, I forgot.

We (Portimao) are hosting the GPMoto again this year. We went to the first one, great! No spectators I guess.
