LATEST MOAN FROM YOU AND ME - 2022

Living rurally there's no garden waste collection here. If I don't compost or burn it, it's a 24 mile round trip to the tip.

 

I dont think it would bother me if I didn't have the collection, I do have enough space for burning or composting but I have a bit more ground than most around here and the gardens are larger than average being older properties.
Modern properties are just not designed for people to deal with their own waste and there are some people who will just not have a waste area in their gardens.
They kind of live in this sterile environment where all waste be must be disposed of and nothing should spoil my view.

 

I don't get a lot of waste from my garden Shiney. Fresh grass cuttings are devoured by the neighbouring horses during the summer season and I've no need to mow through the winter months. Weeds etc. are composted and the rest is burnt. This time of year is a problem with leaf mountains. I burn them if they are dry but usually it means a few tip runs with those as I don't have an area to store them for leaf mould.

I have to say - the Royal Mail - they are certainly consistent.

Delivery expected last Thursday - still not arrived. I was somewhat forgiving during the covid lockdown - but we're now back to as normal as normal can be - I wonder what the excuse is this time?

I have just been reminded why I avoid using Royal Mail for parcels. If an independent courier can get their act together with far fewer resources - why can't the Royal Mail?

 

Hasn't Royal mail been on strike?
Not sure when but they are not very efficient at the best of times.
Letters get through better than parcels, half the time because the postman can't carry them all.

Yes, they are still striking on and off. There will be disruption leading up to Christmas apparently.

 

Don't get me started on Couriers.

 

Couriers are pretty good mostly around here.
They tend to be on time etc.
How they manage to do that with the chaotic traffic I don't know.

 

Just one particular mob. Their driver delivers to every other No 20 in the village except me. Sometimes the recipients bring them to my door. Other times they just keep the parcel.
No amount of complaining to the depot has any effect.
