Your Day (apart from gardening) - what took place? 2023

I've made marmalade with lemons, limes and grapefruit. I like really tart stuff.

So what do we call it when people move to our countries and force changes to our customs? is it colonizing the colonists?

It looks raw and icy and I'm afraid of going out, I think it rained and then froze. My patio is full of ice. I had to be very careful going a few steps to the greenhouse.
If it was raining I'd have gone out, either in the car or for a walk. I feel fine when it rains.
But in cold weather I get depressed, and in a day or two I just feel sick and unwell. Sunshine does nothing for me if it's cold, the temperature is more important.
If it looks less icy tomorrow I'll try going out for a while.

You be very careful if you do Michael, we have ice here covering the pavements and quieter roads ( like ours). Up the top of our lane it was still like an Ice Rink today!!
Do you have good walking shoes/ boots with proper gripping soles?

 

I do sympathise, Michael. I hate January too. Have you ever considered treating yourself to a winter holiday somewhere warm and sunny? Even two or three weeks can make a tremendous difference to being able to get through the winter. You've got the planning, packing and anticipation beforehand, as well as the actual holiday.
We used to go to India for most of January before lumbering ourselves with cats and chickens and too many tender plants, and by the time we returned to UK there were signs of spring and I was able to garden again
If you've got pets, as well as all your plants to consider, what about a house-sitting swap type arrangement?

 

I've got a bucket of salt for the paths and driveway.
I've been in and out all day feeding birds and late afternoon sorting out the foxes.

One fox came round last night and it was keeping one back foot off the ground, it appeard to be bleeding, I think its the male of the pair.

 

I usually wear sandals @Upsydaisy. I'll have to look for my shoes, they're here somewhere.

Thank you @noisette47, actually January isn't the problem, but it's cold icy weather which you can get any time from November to March. If it was mild and wet, as it usually is, I'd be fine.
I've often wondered about a house-sitting arrangement though, it would maybe stop me worrying about my cat and plants.

 

Off to the cinema again today with a friend. We're seeing ' A Man Called Otto', a lighthearted, feel good film.....perfect for a mid winters day.

J is meeting John at their new venue today but that is all going on here Think I will sit out in The Courtyard sun for a while.
