Good evening this morning I went for a country walk across the fields just under 5 miles ,when I returned I had to phone my local windscreen replacement company "Auto Windscreens" because mine has splintered right across the bottom half ,have an appointment for tomorrow morning 9,30am.I then finished off the painting in the kitchen (emulsioning the walls) 2nd coat done.had lunch salmon/cauliflower mash, then went out again for another walk with Suzi my furry friend, really enjoyed to day as I keep remembering that every day really is a Bonus;)

I've made marmalade with lemons, limes and grapefruit. I like really tart stuff.
So what do we call it when people move to our countries and force changes to our customs? is it colonizing the colonists? :rolleyespink:

Sounds about right, Lori  There's a push around here to get the French to accept Marmite, false nails and matured beef :roflol:

          Thank you @Upsydaisy  xx

It looks raw and icy and I'm afraid of going out, I think it rained and then froze. My patio is full of ice. I had to be very careful going a few steps to the greenhouse.
If it was raining I'd have gone out, either in the car or for a walk. I feel fine when it rains.
But in cold weather I get depressed, and in a day or two I just feel sick and unwell. Sunshine does nothing for me if it's cold, the temperature is more important.
If it looks less icy tomorrow I'll try going out for a while.
          Thank you

You be very careful if you do Michael, we have ice here covering the pavements and quieter roads ( like ours). Up the top of our lane it was still like an Ice Rink today!!
Do you have good walking shoes/ boots with proper gripping soles?

I do sympathise, Michael. I hate January too. Have you ever considered treating yourself to a winter holiday somewhere warm and sunny? Even two or three weeks can make a tremendous difference to being able to get through the winter. You've got the planning, packing and anticipation beforehand, as well as the actual holiday.
We used to go to India for most of January before lumbering ourselves with cats and chickens and too many tender plants, and by the time we returned to UK there were signs of spring and I was able to garden again
If you've got pets, as well as all your plants to consider, what about a house-sitting swap type arrangement?

I've got a bucket of salt for the paths and driveway.
I've been in and out all day feeding birds and late afternoon sorting out the foxes.

One fox came round last night and it was keeping one back foot off the ground, it appeard to be bleeding, I think its the male of the pair.

I usually wear sandals @Upsydaisy. I'll have to look for my shoes, they're here somewhere.

Thank you @noisette47, actually January isn't the problem, but it's cold icy weather which you can get any time from November to March. If it was mild and wet, as it usually is, I'd be fine.
I've often wondered about a house-sitting arrangement though, it would maybe stop me worrying about my cat and plants.

We used to go away for a month in the winter and we had Oscar the cat who had set up home in large propagator in the greenhouse. He didn't want to come into the house unless he was being treated for any ailments and we knew he was better when he walked to the back door. He was an interesting cat who loved two legged beings (people and birds) and disliked four legged beings (chased dogs and foxes out of the garden).

All our friends loved him and used to, almost, fight over who would come in to feed and cuddle him when we were away. We had a strict rota for daily visits and feeding. :cat-kittyandsmiley: :)

Most cats are happy with being in their regular home as long as they get a little attention - and food. :heehee:

I like any film with Tom Hanks. I don't need to watch that one as the trailer shows all the highlights, I can imagine the rest :)

We are off to the seaside today for a walk on the beach and pick up Mrs JWK's Cross Stich from the framers. Brunch will be on the agenda plus essential shopping at Gilbert's, a proper independent sweet shop.
