The thing is that if the pipes were in good condition it wouldn't happen.

 

It's because years ago they weren't as old. Just like me. Years ago I wasn't as old, and now I'm older, just like the older infrastructure, I seem to bust more often than I used to.

 

Yeah, maybe they should maintain things better, nearly every closed road around here is either the gas or the water just burrowing around for days on end and then as soon as we get a few warm days it all falls apart.
I'm sure other countries that have much more varied climates than we do dont have these problems every year.

 

Haven't heard the railways complaining about buckled tracks yet this year.

Maybe because half the time they are on strike.

 

So many " new builds " housing sites everywhere but no new reservoirs to accommodate the new dwellers.
SE Water are lecturing us daily about only using water for essentials and showing us graphs of significant usage in the last couple of weeks.
I am watering shrubs and border plants that I don't want to see wither and die...

The land developers promise many things in their applications, which never happen when the builds are complete.
Councils should reject many of these applications, the problem is they usually get approved on appeal.
The only winners are the County & local Councils with more Council Tax.

 

Not really a moan more of a public service announcement
After Morrisons hiked up all it fuel prices I now see they are selling diesel and petrol at 140.9.

Does anyone know what they are trying to do, achieve, apart from p*ssing everyone off.

 

I own a plot of land. I wanted to build an eco friendly house on it but I have zero chance of getting planning permission, for two reasons. The official reason is due to its location. It's in a national park, but only just, and on the other side of a busy road that runs down the edge of the national park boundary. The real reason, a wealthy businessman told me, is because I'm not rich. When I asked him how he got planning permission for a build in a sensitive area that was not in keeping at all with the local area, he asked me simply, how much money do I have. I told him not much. He went on to explain that the trick is to invite the chief planning officer out for a round of golf, and offer to make a substantial cash donation to a charity of his choice. Or put another way, bribe the planning officer to encourage an approval.

You can see it happen on the websites of planning authorities that publish planning applications and decisions. Sometimes you'll see two almost identical applications at neighbouring properties, and one gets approved and the other gets declined.

 

May be there isn't many trains running on the tracks to damage them

 

What's the betting that on June 27th the heavens open and we get floods.

I don't think that this has much to do with water quantity they just can't treat it fast enough, again lack of investment.
