Hiding a pond filter help plz

Grass will die down in Winter though, is that a problem?

There's some quite natty matting you can get for around the edge, to hide the liner (if you want to). Its some sort of "sheet" which has fine gravel stuck to it, you lay it on top and drape it into the water, and the gravel (supposedly!) doesn't fall off, so it looks "natural". Can't remember the name or where I've seen it for sale though, but if its of interest I'll have a more determined hunt.

 

Ive moved a lot of the stones to over hang on the main pond thanks to petes ideas(previous) and yes i agree kristen, Thanks as i build plants at the waterfall area i need to blend it to look more naturally,if you come across the matting itd be great and no rush its a early next yr project too late too plant now xx

 

That's worth knowing. I've seen the Bowles name recently - was there some seed in the Seed Parcel perhaps?

No experience of it though, so no idea "how well" the gravel "sticks" the the backing sheet.

 

Carex Pendula is superb by a pond and stays green all winter. Very tall seed heads on it as well.

Was just going to say carex pendula kindredspirit I grow that by my pond looks lovely with its arching flower heads, just wish it didn't self seed so much .
I bought the Bowles golden sedge back in spring only a tiny plant so I've been growing it on a bit before planting out, its a fabulous colour

Is fatsia japonica fast growing,theres 2 together on ebay in 9cm pots or should i just buy bigger in spring?
Bowdles golden (5 plug plants) from primrose or should i buy seed? also carex pundula is available at primrose but i think self seeding a lot has put me off that grass
Blues fescues is pretty i have found seeds for that


kristen,im impressed with the stoned faced liner,a bit expensive for a roll thou i shall google further on that product

 

Its reasonably fast, but I personally would buy bigger than 9cm pot.

I didn't look closely at the price I'm afraid, hopefully you can buy cheaper elsewhere, or something to give similar effect

 

Have you had the seed parcel yet joolz? I put some seeds in of Carex Buchananii (leatherleaf sedge) and Carex Comans Bronze if theres none left when it reaches you let me know and I'll add some more next time round, also just been collecting seed of Carex Frosted Curls to add next time round, all really easy from seed,bit of a contrast of foliage

 

Thanks kate your a star,its not reach me yet but it shouldnt be long off now,i can use them round the wildlife pond aswell Thats getting a clean out and clean up this winter..not looking forward to doing it thou x
