What's Buzzin' or Flying Near You Today..? MK 3..

I made a lovely discovery today. I'd made a mug of tea and was sitting in the Arbour, with the cats, just looking at what was going on in the garden. Some of you know I built my Arbour out of wood lying in the garage and from other projects and also that I had no real idea what it was going to look like when I'd finished it. As I was building the roof I decided to put a Bird Box into it with the entrance on the front face.

Anyway, as I was sitting with the mug of tea and the cats, a bird kept flying towards the Arbour and then flying off. So hoping against hope I moved to the other side of the garden and watched. It was a pair of Tits that had decide to take residence in the Arbour Nest Box. I can't tell you how pleased I was to see that an random idea had worked out and the Tits had approved!! So now, for the time being, I've lost my seat in the Arbour as I don't want to take the risk of putting the birds off. I can sit by the pond and drink my tea or on the Stone Seat where I can see the Arbour. I'll try to get some pics of them coming and going out of the Arbour and post them

 

I'm busy tomorrow with lots of jobs on, but I'm sure I'll find the time to set the camera up with the 500mm lens on a tripod and remote control and sit on the Stone Bench for while to see what happens

I need to try and look closer at our birds as I think I've been mistaking siskins for greenfinches. Do siskins congregate in vast numbers on the trees? We have, what I thought were greenfinches, hanging on the willow branches when queuing up for the bird feeder.

 

I had a Sparrow suffer Pilot Error yesterday afternoon when it flew into the Kitchen window and stunned itself while I was filling a Watering Can from the outside tap. I retrieved it from a large Skimmia where it had fallen....I could swear as I picked it up it was muttering "Bummer!!!" . I took the Sparrow to the front of the House, gave it time to recover and then let it fly off seemingly unharmed except for a headache.

 

I was just out in the garden and wandering around taking photos. Mr Pheasant kept stalking me all round the garden!!!

 

Mrs Shiney sorts them out with no trouble. She gives them some Rescue Remedy and some healing and they recover very quickly. When they've recovered they tend to stay around her for about ten minutes before flying off.
