      This is a bit puzzling.

Here is our Malva moschata alba last year. As you can see, it's the requisite white colour :blue thumb:
      P1130264.JPG

This year it has come up pink!!!
      P1170411.JPG

There was, originally, a largish clump of alba and nothing else. Now we have a smaller clump of alb and a larger one of pink - in the same spot. As I'm pretty certain that they can't change colour I can only assume that the white has died back a bit and the pink must be seed from last year that has reverted.

Can Malva of one colour set seed of another colour?

Fairly confident that it's Linaria, maybe L.maroccana.

It's been flowering now for at least 3 weeks - so has some of the others.

                  Love the Primula Longk.

We are so lucky to be able to enjoy such beauty in our own gardens!

Longk, I don't like the sound of that, I've planted some this year and I hope they survive.

I planted mine next to the Hellebores. The happy upshot of this is that as I leave this years foliage on the H/bores until after they bloom the following spring this leggy foliage collapses to the ground during freezing weather and lifts back up when it's warmer. So the Primula got a blanket for the cold spells and air when it is warmer. I was totally gobsmacked that it came back!

I've tried, and failed, to grow them in my garden, Sheal, or at least not got them beyond the second year. I did a bit of research and found out they are a short lived perennial [always a bad sign:heehee:] that is really happy in moist woodland. I've tried them down by the pond where's there's shade and it's moist but never got them past the second year......which is why, I guess, they describe them as a "short lived perennial":dunno::snork:

This isn't sounding good, I might just as well bin them now then. :heehee:

That doesn't sound like you, Sheal!! If you don't try you won't know will you??:dunno::snork: I have the same problem with Coreopsis [which I love] but some varieties of them are described as short lived perennials again. I have never got them past their second year either, but it doesn't stop me from trying:heehee:
