We've lost another 1,000+ Aquilegias this year (I reckon that's getting on for 3,000 over the last two years) so we have none for sale. One man has been buying 36 of them each year for the last ten years. He turned up yesterday and was extremely disappointed that we had none for him. He has also lost a lot this year! So we're growing some from seed, in the greenhouse. All our pure white ones have gone

That's the most lovely collection of Aquilegas I have ever seen Mr Shiny. Such intricate little flowers.
It's nice when someone takes piccies of them like this. You don't normally have the time to observe them in so much detail,
        thank you,
        Jenny

Mine have survived. Best of all, the greenish tinged white one has survived.

No real answer to the variety of colours in the Aquilegias, longk!!!:dunno::scratch::heehee: I just let them seed and grow. They are probably the one Hardy Perennial in my borders that I do keep an eye on as they can seed all over the place and pop up where I don't want them to. They're another plant that once in the garden will stay there:thumbsup::snork:

                    This plant puzzles me

It's a Tolmiea (piggyback plant) and most books say it's a houseplant but can tolerate living outside but it doesn't like being too cold or too much sunlight. Ours thrives in a bright sunny position and seems to get on well with out winters.

The books also say that it grows to 12" or 15" high. Therefore ours must be giants. :heehee:

Our large area of yellow flowering lamium started growing like mad. So we waited for the flowers to finish (the bees love them) and have cleared a few hundred sq ft of them. This is some of the area and we've just started planting other stuff (technical gardening term :snork:).

The Telima is starting to go over and the forget-me-nots will be removed this week.

CIMG3475.JPG My Azaleas are just getting going along with some of my Rhododendrons. Suppose this has to be my favourite time for the garden as they give a succession of such lovely flowers plus with my type of climate and soil they don't really need any attention other than being mulched. No complicated pruning, no feeding, no spraying for insect attack just quite happy getting on with things leaving me time to deal with other plants which are not nearly so obliging. I do however always say thanks to them for giving me such a lovely display....sad but true:).
The little Rhododendron is new last year and called Dreamland. Very nice dark foliage when not in leaf. The 2 Azaleas I have I've had for over 20 years. The taller dainty pink 1 (really pretty pink unlike my grotty photo) is Schlippenbachii which has the bonus of beautiful red autumn colour. The smaller Azalea must be the most floriferous of all my many Azaleas but I unfortunately can't remember the variety unfortunately. Only about 3ft tall after all these years.

@shiney Do you just pull out the forget-me-nots? I like mine, they've turned up in many places this spring, but I don't know what to do about them after they're finished. They are near where the runner beans are to go in. :psnp:

@ARMANDII -- love those aquilegias -- mine are just starting to open. Tied them in today against that wicked westerly blowing today.
