Some of the bugs around the garden
Narcissus bulb fly - it is very pretty, looks like a large hairy hoverfly, but ...
                    image.jpg

A tiny little weevil, yet it demands to be noticed due to its turquoise colour.
                    image.jpg

Wool carder bee, unique with the dots along both side of his body and head
                    image.jpg

I thought it was a pretty wasp, and looking at it closely now I realised it actually is a nomad bee
                    image.jpg

                    A marmalade hoverfly

Anyone know what this tiny bug is on the blackberries? He was humping his way across it as though he only has legs at both ends and none along his body.

No flying or buzzing at the moment but the woodpeckers have been having a lovely time here.

No pics but as I sit at my desk typing this I can still hear quite a bit of birdsong on and off from Goldfinch, Wren, Woodpigeon, a Great Tit and Chaffinch. The main bulk of dawn chorus has fell silent now. We still have the wonderfully evocative-of-summer screams from Swifts though...easily one of my favourite birds!

Loads of white butterflies around at the moment and I think there must be a recent emergence of Small Tortoiseshell as we've had three come indoors through our open windows in the past 24hrs :) My two naughty cats think they are toys so I've had to shepherd the butterflies safely back outdoors :heehee:
