Does jumping count?

 

Actually it jumped after I took it,try getting a shot of that...I'll give myself ten out of ten for that,ey crawling around the garden like a commando trying to find out where the sound was coming from

Narcissus bulb fly - it is very pretty, looks like a large hairy hoverfly, but ...


A tiny little weevil, yet it demands to be noticed due to its turquoise colour.

I thought it was a pretty wasp, and looking at it closely now I realised it actually is a nomad bee

No pics but as I sit at my desk typing this I can still hear quite a bit of birdsong on and off from Goldfinch, Wren, Woodpigeon, a Great Tit and Chaffinch. The main bulk of dawn chorus has fell silent now. We still have the wonderfully evocative-of-summer screams from Swifts though...easily one of my favourite birds!

Loads of white butterflies around at the moment and I think there must be a recent emergence of Small Tortoiseshell as we've had three come indoors through our open windows in the past 24hrs My two naughty cats think they are toys so I've had to shepherd the butterflies safely back outdoors
