What jobs are we doing in the Garden today 2015

Yesterday I spent two hours picking stones out of (what was) the lawn, which the builders managed to get all over the place from the sand they were using. Then mowed the lawn and swept the path/patio/drive.

 

Bless you're heart @fat controller ,you've certainly cracked on today that's it now,no more,do as you're told a nice relaxing evening is in order and a Barcardi when you're not on call

 

That is very generous plantings @Loki no wonder you are running out of space!
They are all going to be ready for eating around the same time so that is going to be a LOT of lettuce to get through - and, as you say, it does take up a lot of space.
It may be an idea - and space saving - to sow less seeds but more regularly to give you a constant supply all through the season. So, perhaps just sow 5 of each variety (and that will still give you a goodly crop) one week and then 5 seeds of each variety two weeks later and so one through the season Much more cost effective than buying lettuce and much, much more cost effective than sowing 120 lettuce on one day

@fat controller a healing hug for you Just wondering about the turf you have Unrolled ... wouldn't it be better to keep it rolled up until you need it? Sure I've read that somewhere.

I know, a bit silly! They are at slightly different stages and i plan to use some as cut and come again
We do eat an awful lot of lettuce though (we have 5 kids, lots of mouths to feed) and I'm also catering for the slugs and the dogs destructive tendencies
I sowed a trough with 4 types of cca the other week, the dog decided to bury her bonio in it!

 

You have my sympathies (good thinking though ). Someone mentioned on here some while back about using Vaseline (other petroleum jelly products are available) around pots to deter slugs/snails. Well, I planted up a baby hosta last week and coated the rim of the pot in Vaseline ... so far, so good (no slug/snail has crossed the barrier) I'll let you know if that is still the case when I do my outside lettuces Can't help with the destructive dog though

 

Hi "M", wish someone could, I'm thinking 4 foot fences round all the borders and veggie beds at the moment, she's driving me bonkers

 

cut one really long shoot off my mums bamboo that was up in the tree

and watered everything in my greenhouse

 

Absolutely cream crackered Best part of 150 geraniums, petunia and begonias in.
Hanging baskets up.
Still about 200 plants to go in and ran out of compost again

 

Fell asleep on the sofa for 2 hours today, must've been more tired than I thought. Woke up just before 6 and stayed out in the garden til it got dark!
Lots of hoeing weeds, potting on and planting out done. First few dahlias are out in gaps made by removing bluebells. Bit of a sweep up and prepared a big box of plants for OH's brother tomorrow. Pretty happy all in all.
