i'm pretty sure this is from the acer family. the leaves look a little bit like a large maple leaf and goes a bright autum red in september...
yeah i know what you're saying, why would anyone want to grow conifers from seed when there are sooo many other more beautiful things to grow....

yes each cone seems to contain about 4 seeds. ok so i revisit the tree in a month or so? should i allow the seeds to fall then look for them...
