The best way i think with these daleks is to lift it off the compost, and mix it by shovelling all the compost, mixing in more browns through out it.
Could do something about blight aswell, and communication with how its spreading through the year.
To me, that just sounds like a composting process happening.

Wet and smelly compost sounds like too much greens and not enough browns added to it. You need to mix in more card/paper/twigs etc.

Instead of turning you can surround with foil, so they dont keep using their energy turning back towards the light.

I've had 2 magpies coming to my garden for nesting material, flying off with sticks in their mouth :) Flew of in same direction aswell.
