Phormium tenax is very hardy, so is the gunnera manicata but don't know about the tinctoria. You can only try and see what happens! [img]
I have both, and both grow very quickly each yr the new shoots get taller and taller. I t took 3yrs before the nigra decided to pop up about 4ft...
They are lovely I have them, the leaves are there throught the winter and in late spring summer you get red berries. They are not weeds!!
I'de use multipurpose with plenty of added grit or sharps sand, drainage must be good as it comes from the med. [img]
If it's anything like my lawn it must be about 7" tall and too wet to do anything with yet!

Yep I agree with the others it's a weed! get rid either pull it up or use a translocated herbicide which will go through the leaves to the roots.
Blood grass dies down then regrows in the spring, blue grass usualy goes a bit tatty but then picks up again in the spring if thats any help.
Never had any trouble with any of my palms, but older leaves do go yellow then brown, and some leaves just go yellow at the ends so to tidy them...

canes get to about 6ft in the back garden, but cos I moved it they only managed 4ft but it was late in the summer.
My honney bush is doin great too it stands about 6ft 6" so the flowers in a few months will be huge! :D Also got a yucca in flower!! it started...
Iv'e got arundo donax moved it from back garden to front in the summer, it's still doing ok even after the frosts. It does die down though and...

You could have a passion flower but it is semi evergreen, but a fast grower, you could cut it back though and it would come back every year.

Keep them dry and store upside down, then start them off next spring, I leave my dalias in all year round though, and they just get bigger and better.
All I do is wrap a bit of fleece round my musas, put straw in the crown of my ferns and put my ensetes in the greenhouse, I do this every year and...
