You jest, but I have heard of someone doing that very thing :D
If before harvesting you don't water them for a few days, you can stress the plant and sometimes this makes the chilli's hotter ;)

They are 3"x 3" treated fence posts, I bought 2.4m long lengths and cut them in half, so each was around 4' long
