Was speaking to my auntie about dealing with squirles and she was saying that she has magpies in her garden which keeps them away - you wouldn't happen to know how to attract magpies cause I'm having no joy chasing the squirels off my land?

you're welcome to mine - I'll bring them to you from Falkirk! Seriously - the real way of getting magpies is to have small birds that they'll feed on. Unpleasant but true. So, you have to encourage the small birds and not shoo the magpies away.

    Seriously?!

never thought about magpies eating other birds.

Suppose its worth a try - stock up the bird feeder.

    Seriously! I wish it wasn't so, as I'm a veggie - but that's life!

You could try Daphne Mezereum and Daphne Odora, both will take shade and have amazing scent. Mezereum is toxic though , particularly the berries. It maybe too dry in your bed unless watered in the summer
