Hi Penny well I lost all my collection last year(atrocious Weather) roughly 35 to 40,and decided to call it a day after a lifetime of growing Roses,But as you can see I have bounced back and at the moment I have 15,Hybrid teas and floribundas plus 4 climbers,I must be a glutton for punishment:hehe::) just cannot resist them I guess:)

Wow, what a lovely collection of multicoloured roses you have!

It looks roses go under deceptive names. :D The Painter usually refers to 'Maler rosen' by Delbard, or painter's roses in German-speaking countries, and my Sisley looks similarly:

Anyway, there's a whole bunch of them from Delbard, my absolute favourite is Pissarro - on the 2nd pic. I never get tired of the variety it displays, each flower is spotted-dotted differently, plus it changes colour each day from bud till it withers.

Hi, WiseOldOwl! This practice reminds me of the Botanical Nomenclature Comittee, who keep changing the names of species every five years just because some of the botanists found out that one or two genuses belong to another family or the auctor of the species was a different bloke - it's crazy. Why should you learn the more complicated name of Schoenoplectus instead of Scirpus or why they need to rename the good old Coleus to something as impossible as Solenostemon or Plectranthus?

In this case, to tell you the truth, 'Rainbow Nation' sounds a more adequate name. They should have found a painter whose style reflects the riot of color in this rose much better than the works of Monsieur Pissarro... Chagall or Klimt would have fit much better, imho.
