Had a better look this afternoon, it is indeed from a megabloom, you can see where 2 fruits have fused together........

If I can rule out this monster, I'd like to enter my non-megabloom specimens if that's okay with you guys?

Entering any/all of them is OK with me (knowing/hoping that most megabloom tomatoes actually less that standard tomatoes of the same girth)

My megabloom Phil's Fantastic has broken the 15" girth barrier and is still growing with no sign of ripening yet, but cold nights are here now.

But @Vince can you post some pics please?

Hi everyone! I'm not in the competition, but just to let you know, we just ate our biggest Omar Lebanese, 18 inches in waist! I have no means to weight them, so not sure how big it was weight-wise, but it was pretty big! I only had half and that filled me up! I must say as it's my first year gardening I have nothing really to compare it to, but Omar was pretty early (earlier than Moneymaker) and they got really big!

Scrungee, I've eaten them all actually :oopss: but there is few more toms on this particular bush and one of them is already half red, so I'm gonna save some for you guys! I can mark them as the big Omar on the packet for Tomato Seed Swap, or I can just send you some if you want?

Thanks Loli! They are nice and tasty, very sweet, but they have quite a big 'core' inside them. I always eat bottom half and leave top half for my husband :evil laugh: I'm gonna try another beef toms next year, just not sure what variety yet...

                      Hiya honeybunny.

Speaking from my own experience, I find that large toms have less flavour than smaller ones when raw. I find that cooking them intensifies the flavour of larger varieties, making them worthwhile.

I reckon the regular shape (2nd pic) Phill's Fatantastic has a chance of reaching 2lbs, but cold overnight polytunnel temps are slowing things down a bit.
