      Picked a few more today, big but not big enough. Top left Brandywine, bottom left German Red Strawberry, all the rest are Omar's Lebanese.

        Yes, plus some getting some decent slices through the middle for cheese & tomato sandwiches, but despite all my earlier criticisms of Ferline I've just posted this on the tomato growing thread

        Might be time to pick soon

        According to my calcs and measurements of other toms, a spherical tomato like this one will weigh approx. 2lbs and will be the equivalent of an 18"+ girth tomato comparable to this one as it will weigh 50% more than a flattish one of the same girth, such as this one I've previously weighed in.

          It's a Phil's Fantastic (my Bulgarian Beauties failed to set fruit, along with a few other varieties). Looking at it this morning it appeared to be noticeably more reddish than yesterday (it's redder than it looks in the pics, especially the underside). Because tomatoes lose weight as they ripen and not wishing to lose vital ounces I immediately cut and weighed it ..........

            Assuming I've read that scale correctly @Scrungee, the second photo shows 1:14 that doesn't stack up if it's lbs?

            858g = 30.265ozs = 1lb 14.265ozs and the scales show 1lb 141/4 ozs in 2nd pic.

                It's currently sitting in a wicker fruit basket surrounded by speckledy bananas and will stay there until it's really ripe before I cut it open to ensure the seeds are viable for saving. I the meantime here's a pic of its bottom to show how it's reddening up.

                P.S. This time that's actually my very own horny hand holding the tomato.

                  I must say my Beefmasters have surpassed my expectations this year.
                  After a very slow start in May and June, when they just sat and sulked, the first truss refusing to set and producing nothing worthwhile, they simply took off in late July and have since produced more in terms of size and number than I've ever had before.

                  This is the pick of the crop this year, I've been watching this one for the past few weeks and today it was finally ready to pick. I thought it might just beat my previous best of 448g, so the weigh in came as quite a surprise. :)
