Loads of runner beans now, both Enorma and Firestorm yielding well. It's the first time I've grown Firestorm, it's a self pollinator, however bees have been in plentiful supply this year so it hasn't been a problem. Enorma are a lot bigger and I'm getting more pods off them, but they both taste nice. I'll stick with 50:50 Firestorm/Enorma next year.

What variety? And it shouldn't be sitting there like that, it should be in a pan of boiling water - did you not take the pan to the plant so you could pick straight into boiling water? These things have to be done you know :heehee:

I've been digging up my second earlies (Nicola) for a couple of weeks now and am quite pleased with both the flavour and the yield. Broad Beans are pretty much over. Bridgwater Beans are cropping like crazy. Runners are just starting to get going, but it's looking like I won't get much of a crop at this stage. Spring Onions are starting to look like pickling Onions, but that's ok. My 'normal' Onions (Santero, Hytech, Long Red Florence and a few Kelsae I had left over) are looking good. The two Squash plants have one fruit each, both of which are growing well. The outdoor Tomatoes are looking good with some fruits already taken. The Leeks I planted in the space vacated by the Arran Pilots are growing well, so I'm hopeful that this year I'll get a decent crop (I usually don't:frown:) Lettuces are almost immediately bolting when getting to a decent size.

Overall, at this stage I'm quite pleased with my produce:)

                    Shall I? or shan't I? :heehee: I think I just did ... :)

Not grown Sweet Nugget. I don't suppose you got more than one cob per plant? That seems to be the thing with the ones bred for UK climate - cobs formed on very short plants, which means they ripen OK in the UK, but don't go on to carry more than one cob - so quite "expensive" in terms of area / yield.

Got 2 to a plant Kristen.:blue thumb:....and they are as they say 'sweet'....if only i had more than 2 sucessful plants:doh:.....

I'm also growing 'incredible'.....but they're not looking it:frown: there's no chance they are going to ripen.....

Definitely putting that on my list then, thanks.

More "unremarkable" and "incredible" then ...

I grow about 30 in the greenhouse for an early crop, and another 40 or 50 outside. I've grown Swift F1 for many years; perhaps time to try Sweet Nugget. Best not to plant two varieties (which will pollinate at the same time) as cross pollination can muck up the cobs.

Faludi paprika. Tried for the first time this year. Very strong, almost too strong for my taste.
Lots of beautiful big green fruits with thick flesh. All in all, a great type, just a little bit too strong for me.
At least my mother and my aunt like it.

Some of the squashes, honey bear (green one) and Potimarron, look quite mature. So I harvested them in the hope the plants will gather enough energy to produce more fruits.

I noticed that most of you have your runner beans coming along in full force, but mine have stalled for the past 10 days :dunno:. However my French beans are cropping quite heavily, so I've got more than enough beans for dinner.
