Not sure what its going to taste like - but you wont get that in the shops (may be a good thing!)

On the subject of dodgy looking home made stuff, I was gifted some marrows that were once courgettes which Ive turned into marrow wine... which looks a lot like dish water.

Im sure it will be fine. Probably.

Time for a bit of a clear out today.....

One of my pumpkin plants has given up the ghost, the courgette plants are a total loss, just a horrid mouldy mess,my Squashes have produced just two fruits which are neither nowt nor sommat....won't even mention my Beetroot annnd my Celeriac are nice looking plants but that's about it ...don't look to be forming a root:whistle:

Runners doing well though as are my container carrots and Parsnips,Cabbages although early days looking OK...been a good year for fruit though....
One the whole not been a very successful growing season for me but still had something from my little patch:dbgrtmb:

Those Celeriac you sent me aren't doing anything in the way of fattening up yet either.

Not from my garden, but picked 10 or so pounds of elderberries for wine this morning:

one or two, along with spiders & the odd lady bird - hopefully they were all safely ejected into the compost heap with all the stems.

But I do boil up the fruit for 20 mins to kill anything else off "just in case"...

This thread is starting to rival the BBC's Harvest series :dbgrtmb:

That'll make the BBC sit up and take notice of Gardeners Corner :dbgrtmb:

What am I doing wrong with the Leeks, am I to earth them up every so often? Or not planted deep enough?

Plant them deeper if you want a longer white shaft, or you could put a collar round them to blanch them (loo roll perhaps). I'm not planning to start eating mine until well into November ...

loo roll sounds a good idea, maybe I could've waited longer before planting them and put them in deeper. Must try harder for next year!

Probably too early to be pulling those leeks nFrost, they look the same size as mine, they will probably ready next March/April time.
