2013 Growing Season

Sorry . Caulis , onions, swede, carrots, parsnips oh ' bugger' my veg and my salad t plants

 

I bought them from the gc and assumed they could be planted out straight away . There wasn't anything about waiting til frost had passed

Red Baron Onions and Peas in....the Beetroot in modules don't look too happy so i think i'll direct sow now it's warming up a bit
The mice have had my chick peas now.....

Well, I would ditch the 'roots' (Swede, Carrots and Parsnips) and sow direct. The Carrots and Parsnips can be sown now, but sow the Swede in May. The Caulis should be ok now, but plant the Onions out in a couple of weeks. You could plant out your salad, but it would probably need some protection. No doubt others will add their input. Hope this helps

Maybe you misunderstood? The only thing you could plant is the Caulis, imo.

Planted out the rest of the Shallots, around 24 in all. Planted out the Parsnips (Tender and True), sowed 4 rows of Carrots (Adelaide F1) and 2 rows of Spring Onions (White Lisbon). Both of these sowings have Cloches over. I note that the soil is in lovely condition, perfect for sowing. I suppose this is the upside of that prolonged cold spell. In the greenhouse I sowed a few Lettuces (All The Year Round).

 

Planted out my spuds today. 24 tubers of Arran Pilot (1st early) and 8 tubers of Nicola (second early).

 

Strangely enough ... I planted some Maris pipers and good old King Edwards . First time I have grown any , so fingers crossed

 

Onions DON'T like it too hot, all mine are outside now, they can take a light frost, they're hardy enough and personally I think they thrive on it, I don't do molly coddling and haven't done too bad so far?
